The Columbus Public Library is bringing back one of the most sought-after historical speakers in Nebraska. Cherrie Beam-Callaway will captivate audiences with her program, "The Courage to Continue: Changing Homesteads in Nebraska".
Last year she regaled us with the story of Mariah Monahan immigrating to Nebraska from Ireland. We cried and laughed as she told us about sailing the ocean, riding the wagon trail, and life on the prairie. Cherrie is sponsored by Humanities Nebraska and the Friends of the Library and has done her historical storytelling for over 35 years. This year she will continue her saga of Mariah Monahan, reliving the story of selling the homestead, beginning again as cattlemen in the desolate Sandhills, the trials of building a sod house, lightning storms, crying for rain, rattlesnakes and the never-ending wind. Share her joy as she celebrates the 4th of July, Christmas and American pride.
her on Sunday, March 31st at 2 pm! You will learn while also being entertained by Cherrie
and her wonderful storytelling abilities!
