Nine athletic trainers popped by Monday night’s Columbus City Council meeting, though the only remotely strenuous activity required was a quick walk across the room and a handshake.
Rob Marshall, who is the director of the CCH Fieldhouse and program manager of Columbus Community Hospital Sports Medicine Services, shook hands with Columbus Mayor Jim Bulkley shortly after the latter signed a proclamation declaring March as National Athletic Training Month in Columbus. It’s held every March in order to spread awareness about the important work of athletic trainers. This year’s theme is “There’s an A.T. for that.”
During the council meeting, the mayor made a special presentation to read the proclamation and publicly thank area athletic trainers for their efforts.
“I urge our residents to express their appreciation for our athletic trainers and learn more about the importance of athletic training,” Bulkley said, after reading the proclamation, looking at the group of professional athletic trainers on hand. “And thank you for all you do for our youth and all you do for our community.”
