Area residents seeking ways for their kids to stay active as the weather warms up are in luck. The Columbus Area Sports & Activities Sign-Up Day is set to run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 18th.
“The sign-up day is just so much fun. Kids and families get to come to one location and really see what is available for them this spring and summer,” City Parks and Recreation Manager Betsy Eckhardt said. “They get signed up to participate in their favorite activities. Seeing kids get excited for soccer, dance, camp or any other activity that helps them have fun and stay active in the summer months is fun to be a part of.”
The event, which has been happening annually since March 2016, brings in about 40 area groups, teams and clubs to talk with attendees and give parents or guardians the chance to sign-up their kids to participate. Groups that have participated in the past include Columbus Youth Soccer Association (AYSO), Columbus Youth Softball and 4-H, as well as Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts, Bible schools and day camps.
“This is just a great opportunity for families and youth (preschool and older) to come out and really learn what is available for you to do in the spring and summer months,” Eckhardt said. “There is a group, team or club that is for everyone and we are here to help you find what that may be for you.”
The Sign-Up Day happens at 1C | The Sanctuary, 2200 28th Ave. in Columbus.
