[ARCHIVED] Recycle Center Closing October 1st

The City of Columbus is closing the Recycle Center, 960 24 Avenue, as of October 1, 2012. Sorted recyclables may be dropped off to Recycle Monster.

Recycle Monster is located at 4930 Howard Boulevard, Columbus, Nebraska (just west of Cubby's Convenience Store on the northwest corner of Hwy 81 and 48th Avenue).

Please deposit all sorted and rinsed out (when applicable) material in the appropriately labeled outdoor bins located just next to the access road on the white rock. Please remove recyclables from bags. Materials accepted free of charge include the following:

  • Cardboard (including chipboard cereal boxes)
  • Aluminum cans
  • Tin cans
  • Paper (newspaper, white paper, envelopes). Please no waxy paper.
  • Plastics (labeled 1-7)
  • Plastic grocery bags

The outdoor, drop-off location will be available 24 hours a day. For large loads of cardboard, unloading may be possible in the building or at a dock Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Call ahead to 402-564-6006 for availability.

Shredding of documents and electronic recycling may be arranged for a fee.
