Use of Memorial Stadium's field and track will be temporarily prohibited while upgrades are made in preparation of the fall 2023 football season.
The field and track will not be available for use through the construction process beginning Monday, June 19th, 2023. As such, the entrance gates are going to be locked. Construction is expected to last six-to-eight weeks.
The old turf will be removed and some of it will be stored in the football field parking lot, available until July 6 to anyone who might want it on a first-come, first-served basis. It will be cut in approximately 8” X 20” sizes. After that, it will be hauled away for disposal.
Installation of the new turf will begin on approximately July 10, 2023, with the staging for construction in the football field parking lot.
“We’re looking forward to 2023 football season on the new turf,” City of Columbus Public Property Director Doug Moore said.
Memorial Stadium is in Pawnee Park.
