Mayor Mike Moser will recommend the appointment of Janelle Kline to the position of City Clerk at the City Council meeting on November 19, 2012.
The city of Columbus was fortunate to receive over 60 applications from persons interested in serving as City Clerk. After initial screening, the list of potential candidates was narrowed to those who would be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire then after further review candidates with municipal experience were interviewed. From those interviews, Assistant City Clerk Janelle Kline emerged as the recommended candidate.
Ms Kline began her employment with the city in 2000, following employment opportunities at Schaben Industries and Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Ms Kline has served as Assistant City Clerk since 2002 and has ably filled the void in the office following the death of City Clerk Linda Walters.
Mayor Moser expressed his appreciation for the solid work and calm, professional presence Ms Kline has provided to the city during the last year and more, and said the appointment will serve the city and its citizens well in having a capable and experienced person in the position. He thanked her for her past service and the service she will provide in her new capacity. He also thanked the other employees in the office for stepping up to fill in and ensure continuity of service during the recent transition.
