[ARCHIVED] Transition to New Transfer Station

The City’s new solid waste Transfer Station is scheduled to go on-line effective Monday, December 15, 2014.

To make the transition, the old Transfer Station will shut down operations on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 12:00 noon. No solid waste, including trees/branches, will be accepted during the change-over weekend. The yard waste area will remain open.

During the shutdown, staff will relocate all necessary equipment from the old station to the new station. In addition, the trailers used to haul the solid waste to the landfill will be converted to top load.

Beginning Monday morning, December 15, 2014, all solid waste including trees/branches will be processed through the new transfer station. All traffic is to enter the new scale house entrance (second driveway on the right) and pass over the new scales.

Please note that the new transfer station operates differently from the old one. The new Transfer Station operation will require all material to be placed on the station floor inside the main building. After reporting to the scale house, you will be directed to one of five bay doors to back into. Place your material as far to the rear of the building as possible and then leave the building returning to the scale house for a final weigh in and payment. DO NOT THROW MATERIALS DIRECTLY INTO THE OPEN PIT.

We apologize for any inconvenience during this change over.
