[ARCHIVED] Storm Spotter Training

The National Weather Service and the Columbus/Platte County Emergency Management Agency will be holding its annual Storm Spotter Training session.

The 2 Hr. session will be held Wednesday March 18th at 7:00 pm in the Platte County Courthouse Community Room. Please use the main Courthouse entrance. This training is provided to spotter groups, fire departments, industry, retail, education, and other individuals interested in the process of becoming a "Trained Spotter" as required by the National Weather Service. The public is invited to attend, especially those in rural areas.

The National Weather also uses a list of trained public spotters in rural areas, signup and more information will be available. Those interested in volunteering to be a spotter for Platte County Emergency Management will receive information on how to volunteer.

This year Severe Weather Awareness Week will be held be March 23rd to the 27th with the mock tornado warning at approximately 10:10 am Wednesday March 25th.
