[ARCHIVED] Public Awareness
The City of Columbus has received a report of an individual requesting entry into a home, claiming to be employed by a water company. He reportedly claimed to be at the residence to test the water.
The City would like to let all area residents know that the City of Columbus does not send out personnel unannounced. City staff will always be wearing City uniforms, be driving City government trucks with City markings on them, and have a photo ID to prove they are with the City. Please do not let anyone into your home who does not have all of this identification.
If you have or have had a similar experience recently, please call the Columbus Police Department immediately at 402-564-3201.
