[ARCHIVED] City of Columbus Water & Sewer Billing

There have been a large number of questions recently asked about the current water bills that just went out. To clarify, the bill received this week reflects the water usage for the month of July.

In that month of July, records indicate 11 days of 85 - 90 degree temps, as well as 6 days over 90 degrees. The month of July records indicate 2.20” of rain for the month. City Well Pump Records indicate 137,033,135 gallons in the month of May; 149,363,152 gallons in June; 222,042,999 gallons pumped in July; and 207,000,000 gallons in August, which will be billed at the first of October. That shows that the amount of water used in July was significantly higher than the previous months. This is what we see as lawns dry up and people water their lawns.

To give a better understanding of the billing system and timeline, below you will see an example of our new billing statement. In the lower left you will see a history of usage. On the right side about mid-page you will see the dates of the month that the bill is covering, 7/01/2019 to 7/31/2019. All meters are read by Automated Reading Meter (AMR), a radio transmitted reading that is read as the service unit drives a route.   Water Bill Sample
