With recent heavy storms and the threat of further Spring storms, the City of Columbus would like to remind citizens that it is against City Code 50.47 to deposit debris on City streets.
This section of the code prohibits the following actions:
"...deposit, dump or place dirt, rock, yard waste or any other material that may hamper proper drainage on City streets."
Leaving debris on the roadway hampers the proper drainage of water during heavy storms. Mowed grass that is blown on the roadway will also end up in the Loup and Platte rivers. This grass often has chemicals from yard treatments which will pollute the rivers.
Please do your part to prevent street flooding and river pollution by cleaning up any debris that you may have caused to be on the roadway.
